US Summer School Terms & Conditions

Registration begins on Wednesday, March 14th, at 6 p.m.

Once enrolled, you are responsible for all the financial obligations incurred during the summer session as stated on the school's website.

In the event of an accident or serious illness, the school will attempt to contact the parent(s) listed in the application.  If the school is unable to reach the parent(s) listed in the application, the school will attempt to contact the neighbor or local relative listed in the application to assume temporary care and will call the physician indicated in the application and follow his/her instructions.  If it is impossible to contact the physician, the school may make whatever medical arrangements seem necessary.

TUITION AND FEES

Academic class:  $2,200
Computer science class:  $1,050
Health class:  $525

Full refund of tuition will be available until June 11.  The Upper School office is to be notified in writing of a student's withdrawal from a class.  Tuition refunds are pro-rated until Friday, June 22.  After June 22, no tuition monies will be refunded.

BEHAVIOR

Please refer to the Buckley Student & Parent Handbook for a complete description of behavioral expectations.

DRESS CODE

Students are expected to observe good taste in casual dress.  Sneakers and t-shirts are allowed, but for safety reasons, sandals and clogs are not permitted.

STUDENT DRIVING & PARKING

A student with a California driver license may drive to summer school beginning on the first day of class.  Cars are to be parked in the spaces along the east side of the main parking lot.  By Wednesday, June 20, students must have turned in the parking permit forms and have a summer school placard displayed on the dashboards of their cars.  Parking forms may be obtained in the Upper School office starting Monday, June 11.

A student with a driver permit may not drive on the school property at any time.  If a student with a driver permit is driving to school with a parent, the student and parent must change drivers before they enter the school grounds.

HOMEWORK

The summer school classes are offered for academic credit.  Therefore, students should be aware that two to four hours of homework are assigned each day.

ATTENDANCE

If a student is absent more than three times from a class, he or she will not receive credit for that class.  In order to receive credit for a class, students must also sit for the first semester final exam on Friday, July 6, and the second semester final exam on Friday, July 27. There are no exceptions.

ACADEMIC POLICIES

Report cards are mailed to parents at the middle and end of summer school.  For a Buckley student in the Upper School, summer school grades become part of the student's official transcript.

Academic credit for non-Buckley students for summer classes is dependent upon the policies of the school attended by the student during the academic year.  A non-Buckley student should check with his or her academic advisor regarding the application of credits earned at Buckley summer school.

Through Thursday, June 21, a student may withdraw from a class without a record of that class appearing on the student’s transcript.  After that date, however, the class will be listed on the student’s transcript as a WP (withdraw pass) or WF (withdraw fail), depending upon the student’s grade in the class at the time of withdrawal.

Upon written request, the Buckley School will provide an official transcript.

LIBRARY

The summer hours for the Robert Young Library are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
