Posted June 25, 2009

On June 5, the 5th graders celebrated their “independence,” reflecting on their Lower School years in preparation for the start of Middle School in August. The 8th graders were next with the 8th grade breakfast, closing out their Middle School careers, and on Saturday, June 13, the Buckley Class of 2009 marched in commencement ceremonies at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Having received their pins and lit their candles from the light of knowledge, 24 Middle and Upper school students were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and National Honor Society (NHS) on Thursday, May 21.
The selection process for NJHS and NHS is quite rigorous. Students with a grade point average of 3.0 and above and no serious disciplinary infractions are eligible for nomination by Buckley faculty members. Students with a minimum of five nominations are considered by the NHS Faculty Council, which takes into consideration the student’s scholarship, character, leadership, and service record. (Click read more for the full list of inductees.)
