Dare to be Creative
The arts bring to life the entire educational experience at The Buckley School. Something much more than art for art’s sake, the program inspires students to test the limits of their imaginations, think creatively in all aspects of their lives, and appreciate truth and beauty in the world around them.
Individuality is celebrated at Buckley, where students are encouraged to express themselves in their own unique ways. Active, personal involvement in music, dance, theater, and the visual arts enables students to discover themselves, offers them insight into universal human thoughts and emotions, and inspires students to dream.
At all levels, visiting artists help to bring each art form to life and to show how they are applied in the everyday world.
It is man’s way through the use of all arts to show how we behave to each other, to show our strengths and reveal our weaknesses, and in the final analysis-to affirm the dignity of mankind.”
Dr. Isabelle Buckley, Founder
In the Lower School, art is integrated across the curriculum. Art teachers work with homeroom teachers to help students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the subjects they are studying.
Starting in the Lower School and continuing on through the Middle and Upper School, students participate in band, orchestra and choral concerts, dramatic and musical theatrical productions, dance programs and visual arts exhibitions.
The Buckley School is the first independent school to have been honored with the prestigious BRAVO award, bestowed by the Music Center of Los Angeles for outstanding educational programs in visual and performing arts.
