It is the school’s intent to provide a safe and healthful work environment for all employees and to prevent conditions that may result in workplace accidents and injuries. The school believes that good safety practices and procedures contribute to the well being of all employees and also protect school and personal property from loss due to negligence, accident or carelessness.
The school has established a comprehensive safety program that includes instruction and training in Bloodborne Pathogens, Emergency Preparedness, Work Place Safety, CPR and First Aid and Injury and Illness Prevention. This program involves periodic employee training.
Injury prevention is largely an individual responsibility. Therefore, every employee needs to think and act “safely” at all times. If an employee is injured in the workplace, no matter how minor the injury may be, it must be reported to the immediate supervisor as soon as possible and an incident report completed and submitted to the school nurse. In addition, if an employee observes an unsafe work condition, it must be reported at once to the immediate supervisor.
There is a registered nurse available in the Health Office. She is available for student and employee injuries, illnesses, consultation and health education. Flu vaccines and Hepatitis B vaccines are also available to employees through the Health Office.
The school requires employees to comply with the safety programs and the training provided. Employees who fail to follow established safety rules and procedures may be subject to corrective action, up to and including termination.
