College Counseling
As you begin the latter phases of Buckley's college preparatory program, the college counseling office joins with your teachers, advisors and coaches to guide you as you formally begin the college admission process. While you will see us and hear from us from time to time during the first two years of Upper School, it will typically be to address you generally about the "big picture" concepts that can influence your college choices-taking your studies seriously, getting involved in activities that are both fun and meaningful to you, and expanding your reading habits.
Beginning with the junior year, however, the college counseling process begins in earnest. Since it is a process that is often equal parts exciting and scary, our aim will be to de-mystify it as much as possible and empower you to make appropriate choices based on comprehensive research. Our program is highly individualized and student-centered. We will ask you and your family to think seriously about how your talents, your abilities, and your dreams will shape your college search. We believe in a "team approach" in which your family, your teachers, your advisors and your coaches all play a part. You have to do the hard work; we are simply the guides.
We look forward to a satisfying and productive journey!
