Lower School

Thank you for taking the time to browse our website and to learn more about this amazing place we call home.

In the Lower School, our number one priority is to make our students feel welcome in every classroom and on every playing field so that they will take risks, ask questions, and have their desire to learn nurtured at a young age.

We believe in the power of play and creativity in early education as is evident throughout both our academic curriculum and our rich visual and performing arts program, which begins in kindergarten and continues through our entire school.  Likewise, we believe that daily challenge and elements of structure develop self-discipline, resilience and self-knowledge as learners, traits that are important to our students as they advance to the upper elementary grades and Middle School.  Just as important is our focus on a child’s moral development, as we seek to nurture empathy and compassion in our children.

This approach of a developmental program in a more traditional structure is at the heart of Buckley’s Lower School.  I hope you will visit our campus so that you can see the power of this combination. Our students are so engaged in their learning they truly don’t want to miss a day of instruction. Our teachers set high standards for themselves and their students yet maintain a safe environment that enables children to feel comfortable in learning from their mistakes.

We look forward to your visit one day soon. Please stop by my office and introduce yourself, I would love to meet you and tell you more about Buckley.
