The Arts
The Arts is a core pillar in The Buckley School’s 4-Fold Plan of Education. The visual and performing arts are an integral part of our curriculum and a key part of nurturing the whole child. Starting in kindergarten and continuing through the twelfth grade, students are involved in a wide range of classes in the visual and performing arts that interweave skill development, creative thinking, and understanding of the historical and cultural context of the arts. Additionally, students are taught to develop and share their own creative voices through each assignment and activity.
Our arts program reaches beyond Buckley classrooms with performances, exhibitions, competitions, assemblies, field trips, and collaborations with visiting artists that bring the rich culture resources of Los Angeles to our students. Our program is designed to help all students express themselves and acquire a greater understanding of the world and of themselves, as well as to prepare interested students for visual and performing arts colleges and for dynamic professions of the 21st Century art world.
