International Student FAQ's
- Do you have boarding facilities at Buckley? Hide
No. Buckley is a co-educational day school for students in kindergarten through grade twelve. We do not offer any boarding facilities.
- Do you find host families for international students? Hide
No. Before the admission office admits a student, they must have a parent or adult guardian with whom they can reside during the school year.
- What is required for admission to Buckley? Hide
For students applying for grades 6-12, the following is required (deadline: December 15):
- a completed application form;
- a $100 application fee;
- 2 teacher recommendations (English and mathematics);
- official school transcripts (grades) from the last 2-1/2 years of school - with an official English translation attached;
- a student/parent interview;
- Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) - this exam can be administered in several international locations;
- For students applying to kindergarten-grade five, the following is required (deadline: December 1):
- a completed application form;
- a $100 application fee;
- 1 teacher recommendation (current main subject teacher);
- official school transcripts (grades) from the last 2-1/2 years (or from kindergarten and above) - with an official English translation attached;
- a small group assessment or individual classroom visit;
- a parent interview;
- Grade 4 only: student will be given the ERB’s CTP4 exam at Buckley;
- Grade 5 only: Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) - this exam can be administered in several international locations
- Do you offer ESL (English as a Second Language) courses? Hide
No. Buckley requires full proficiency in the English language due to the highly competitive and very demanding college preparatory curriculum.
- How do I get an I-20 form from the school? Hide
Once an international student is accepted for admission and the entire comprehensive fee has been paid, the school will issue an I-20 form, allowing the student to attend The Buckley School until he or she graduates. If the student is transferring from another school in the United States, the student must contact the Director of Admission at Buckley in order to complete a transfer I-20 form.
