Much is said about the special nature of he Buckley community. Our small size and communal belief in the tenets of the Buckley Commitment and school's educational philosophy play a role in this. But it is the spirit and devotion of the Buckley Parents’ Association (PA) that brings together our 570 families into the special community found here.
The PA works to build strong relationships between parents and the school, and new families are welcomed to become involved through such PA-led events as grade-level pot-lucks and the annual back-to-school picnic, a laid-back day of old-fashioned fun on Gilley Field. Monthly PA meetings and frequent committee meetings are held, and the PA offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities to meet every schedule.
PA involvement and community service set a strong example for our students. Our parent volunteers spend literally thousands of hours taking on crucial tasks at Buckley -- from working in the library and classrooms, to volunteering for one of the many committees. And through a variety of fundraising events each year, the PA makes important contributions to the school’s operating and Financial Aid budgets. The group also made the first $1 million pledge to the school’s Capital Campaign.
